UEFA referees and Romanian Football Federation: too strong ties?

“Bad match, bad match” cry the Neapolitan journalists at the referee Kovacs after the Milan-Napoli game won by Milan.

Rosetti the Uefa chief refereeing officer looks at them in a bad way but leaves without a word.

Heavy atmosphere around the Romanian referee.

The poor English of the Neapolitan journalists shows a big limit of the environment around the Neapolitan team.

Let’s look at the numbers of the game, the only thing that matters.

During Milan-Napoli there were 29 fouls, 16 (Milan) and 13 (Napoli) .

The yellow cards were 9 : 6 Napoli and 3 Milan. 2 yellow cards in 4 minutes for Anguissa the Neapolitan player sent off with a red card (as a sum of 2 yellow cards).

That means that, approximately every 5 fouls there was a yellow card for a Milanese player. (16/3)

On the contrary approximately every 2 fouls there was a yellow card for a Neapolitan player (13/6).

While a yellow card every 5 fouls is reasonable it seems excessive to give a yellow card every 2 fouls.

And that does not take into account Milanese player Leao’s terrible attitude of kicking and destroying the corner flag which was not even sanctioned by the referee.

One side-referee?

Why not just demote him when UEFA is treating him as a 1st category referee anyway?

For such a behavior Kovacs should be closer to an exit from the UEFA list.

Well let’s go back to mid March 2023.

Less than a month ago (15-17.03.2023) there was the first UEFA Referee Symposium in Bucharest the Romanian capital.

Rosetti was there together with Rocchi the chief Referee officer in Italy as participants in the Symposium.

The lecturers at the symposium were members of the UEFA Referee Committee: Roberto Rosetti, Björn Kuipers, Vladimir Šajn, Carlos Velasco Carballo and Dagmar Damková.

The main objective of the conference was “to present the latest information on the application and interpretation of the Laws of the Game, teaching methods and familiarization with the latest materials that can be used in the training of referees.”

UEFA choice to appoint Kovacs, the Romanian referee, for Milan-Napoli game in Champions League is a clear sign that Romania is considered a country with high quality referees.

Maybe Kovacs was among those referees put on the list way too quickly because suddenly a high number of referees stopped internationally. In fact Rosetti himself declare during the Bucharest conference:

“"We have a major problem with the declining number of referees across Europe. We are here together to discuss the strategy for the future in order to support the referees, those who start this activity".

Rosetti gave a brief characterization of Romanian refereeing, which he says "benefits from high-quality education": “ I think the results are obvious, Romanian referees are doing well. At the last EURO, there were two Romanian referees on the field, and this is not a coincidence. 

It's just the result of hard work. Istvan (Kovacs) and Ovidiu ( Hațegan) deserved to be there and they were there! We want quality, and at the moment Romanian arbitration offers us this quality" .

I believe it is optimistic to believe that there will be any UEFA criticisms against the Romanian referee especially after the close relationship between the Romanian federation and UEFA referee organization.

UEFA credibility?

I believe there should be more and more transparency on the appointments of referees and on their behavior on the field.

Uefa should enhance its credibility with the appointment of fair referees if football wants to continue being a successful and popular sport.

Podologo, una categoria di medici molto importante ma poco conosciuta

Cammini ma ti fa male il piede maledettamente?

Sei andato dall’ortopedico, dal fisioterapista ma nessuno ha risolto il tuo problema?

Sei disperato perche’ non sai che fare?

I tuoi familiari ti guardano con rabbia tutte le volte che ti lamenti del tuo piede?

Benvenuto nel mondo dei sofferenti dal piede dolente, un girone dantesco dove camminano, anzi zoppicano, milioni e milioni di persone disperate, che non sanno cosa fare, come fare e a chi rivolgersi.

Persone sballottolate da un medico ad un altro senza alcuna soluzione. Perche’?

Perche’ c’e’ uno specialista che nella maggior parte dei casi puo’ veramente risolvere il problema ma e’ poco conosciuto: il podologo, medico specialista dei piedi.

Una professione poco conosciuta ma molto, molto utile.

So cosa pensate miei cari lettori: “Caro Max, tu parli ma in realta’ non sai veramente come si soffre con i piedi”.

E invece no parlo per esperienza diretta.

Trovandomi a Lucca per lavoro ero disperato. Il piede mi faceva maledettamente male. Mi sono rivolto alla Societa’ Italiana Podologia e Podoiatria che e’ una delle principali associazioni della categoria dei podologi in Italia per trovare uno specialista in zona.

Perche’?

Perche’ quando si tratta di specializzazioni cosi’ precise e’ meglio rivolgersi a medici certificati da associazioni conosciute che danno una maggiore garanzia di qualita’ degli associati.

La persona che mi hanno indicato ha un ufficio fuori Lucca, a Santa Maria del Giudice Via Nuova per Pisa 5865.

Il dottor Cristiano Bertini.

Confesso che non conoscevo la localita’ e sono andato spinto dalla sofferenza del piede che non funzionava. Avevo gia’ visto vari dottori, fisioterapisti e ortopedici.

Risultato zero.

Cosi’ mi sono diretto li’ un po’ dubbioso.

Ma devo ammettere che mai i miei dubbi mai sono stati cosi’ infondati. Il dottor Bertini e’ un tipo giovane, atletico, scattante. Non sembra il classico dottore italiano.

Ma le similitudini finiscono qui.

Quando entro nel suo ufficio e’ un concentrato di high tech.

C’e’ una piattaforma dove mi metto in piedi.

Improvvisamente sul computer di fronte al dottore vi e’ uno analisi dei piedi che proviene dalla piattaforma e che analizza in tempo reale i miei piedi. Una marea di dati escono dallo scanner e sono proiettati sul computer.

Ma quello che mi colpisce e’ l’ immagine dei miei piedi. Ci sono colori che in maniera immediata mostrano le parti infiammate da quelle “normali”.

Punti rossi identificano immediatamente la natura del problema, dove esso e’ ubicato e la loro intensita’. Tutto e’ spiegato con chiarezza inaudita.

Nessun palpaggio del piede accompagnato dalla domanda: “Ti fa male qua o li’?”.

La risposta e’ high tech e la vedi da solo sul computer.

Poi viene la valutazione di Cristiano.

Cristiano e’ competente e da un primo sguardo a come cammino capisce immediatamente la natura del problema.

E la spiegazione e’ legata alla postura a come colloco il piede a terra, come lo muovo.

Ma quello che piu’ mi colpisce e’ la soluzione.

Dalla disperazione avevo usato vari tipi di scarpe e quasi nessuno mi aveva ridotto il problema. Poi alla fine le scarpe con i tacchi avevano ridotto il dolore e usavo sempre quelle.

Quando Cristiano mi ha consigliato di usare scarpe e zoccoli ortopedici con tacchi in questa fase (senza che gli avessi detto prima della mia esperienza con le scarpe con i tacchi) ho capito che era in gamba.

E la cosa e’ stata confermata dalla fasciatura che ha fatto.

Perche’?

Semplice quando sono andato di nuovo sulla piattaforma lo scanner del mio piede ha eliminato una zona rossa e ha ridotto le altre infiammate.

Effetto della fasciatura che ha immediatamente corretto parte del problema.

Vedete l’immagine per credere.

Bisogna comprare scarpe e zoccoli ortopedici che non sono economici.

Ma vi confessero’ una cosa: vedere la luce alla fine del tunnel della sofferenza fa’ bene.

Non solo ai piedi ma anche al mio umore che si stava trasformando in scontroso ma che e’ tornato quello di sempre.

Si’ ne e’ valsa la pena andare da Cristiano, un medico veramente, il podologo.
